I have friends on several social media sites (I originally wrote this on facebook) that use it as a platform to promote themselves whether it be business, creative, or just for causes they believe in.
For me, it's pigs. I've always loved animals, and there is something so special about a pig.
They are smart, the fourth smartest animal actually (Humans, apes, porpoises/whales, pigs). Their brains have been scientifically proven to work in the same fashion ours do (it's called linear thinking). They can master video games quicker than chimps, and use mirrors to plan.
They are also more of a genetic match to us humans that apes are. That is why surgeons use pig skin, heart valves, etc to replace faulty human parts. Everyone always talks about chimps being our cousins, well pigs are our brothers and sisters.
Tonight, in a town near St. Louis, there is ANOTHER "pig wrastle." The event allows teams of people to go into a muddy pen, and punch, kick, and stuff a pig into a barrel. They are marketing it as "good, clean fun for the whole family!"
The law clearly states that this is unlawful and animal cruelty, so why is it still going on?
(a) It is unlawful for any person to:
(1) Own, possess, keep, use or train any bull, bear, dog, cock, SWINE or other animal, for the purpose of fighting, baiting or injuring another such animal, for amusement, sport or gain.
PLEASE sign the petition. It will not stop this event, but it will help spread the word, and give pigs a chance. There is already a law suit filed against the ST. Francis Catholic church for their "Pig Wrastlin" event held last month. Help stop other towns/organizations from allowing these events of animal cruelty to continue.
Thank you.
