Rights Violations Procedures
Everyone at Wander has a set of Rights that they are automatically entitled to. If someone is found to be violating another person's rights, we will immediately take action to find out what happened and make sure it does not happen again. However, we realize that people are going to make mistakes and that sometimes accidents happen, or there is a lapse in judgment. Taking this into consideration, we have created a formula that looks like this.
Report
First, a violation must be reported to a staff member. You can do this by privately messaging either Ange, Aly or the Admin account, detailing how and when the incident happened and providing a link to the source.
Discovery
After the report has been made, staff will immediately look into the situation and see if there was a violation that took place by examining the thread or messages in question, interviewing the parties involved and deliberating together privately.
Action
If there was no violation, the reportee will be informed of the update in the case and the rights will be clarified to avoid confusion.
If there was a violation in place, staff will contact the alleged violator and learn their side of the story. Whether or not intent was made to violate a right, this person will receive a warning.
If the violation happens again and they violated the Right of Respect of a Wanderer, they will receive another warning. However, if they violate this Right a total of three times (with the exception of triggers), staff will consider banning the violator for an appropriate amount of time to reinforce the importance of respect.
If the violation happens again and they violated the Right of Expression of a Wanderer, they will receive another warning. With this Right, we will be most lenient and focus on education of triggers if a violation is in place. We acknowledge that this is a sensitive, difficult topic to address and will respond accordingly.
If the violation happens again and they violated the Right of Copyrights of a Wanderer, they will be banned for an appropriate amount of time deliberated by the staff members.
Verification Situations
I've received multiple warnings for different Right violations. What does this mean for my future as a Wanderer?
Violation warnings do not overlap for each Right. This means you can have a warning for violating the Right to Copyrights, a warning for violating the Right to Respect and a warning for violating the Right to Expression and you will not be considered for being banned, and so on and forth. We understand that people make mistakes and believe in compartmentalizing and ensuring everyone has an ability to grow and learn from the past.
I didn't mean to hurt someone. Does this mean I still violated their Right?
Consequences will depend mostly in malicious intent. That is to say, if it was your intention to bash a specific group of people, we will take this offense much more seriously than if you accidentally used a term that you were unaware was offensive. In short, yes, it does mean you still violated their right; however, Staff will take intention of innocence into account, and repercussions will not be nearly as severe in such cases.
