About All that Wander
You might be wondering (or, perhaps wandering): What is All that Wander? Is it some rip-off of JR Tolkien's poem? The short answer? Yes.
Really, it's a cheeky reference to the famous poem, "All that is Gold Does Not Glitter" (it's a good poem, I recommend it). But why "that" instead of "who"? Two reasons: One, because we're not just people, we're artists. Why box ourselves into one possible category? Two, because we aren't a site based upon JR Tolkien, we're a site for artists to find comfort, compassion and community.
Wander, as we affectionately call it, began May 13, 2012, after a group of people felt displaced and homeless when a beloved online community crumbled. Wander is the attempt to start anew, to put our blood, sweat and tears into something made purely of love and devotion to our craft. Here we opened our eyes to endless possibilities and slowly began to construct what eventually became our home.
We run off a democratic system. That means that two to three staff members share equal power, and frequently request for feedback, assistance and direction directly from the members they serve. Every bit of information that members decide to give them they take into consideration for improvement of Wander. Moreover, the system of discipline is based off a series of Rights to emphasize the democracy we uphold and to ensure that each member feels safe, welcome and happy here.
If you have any questions about Wander, its creation, or how it functions, feel free to post here!
