I don't know about you guys, but when I have to come up with a name for something, say a roleplay character or a story character or a Sim, I can agonize over it for ages. But then, when I went to software engineering camp this summer, I realized that there was a very simple solution to this. And thus, I have coded some name generators in Visual Basic.
As of now, you can only download them. I haven't found a place on the internet that will simply run these instead of making you download them. They don't take up much space (the largest one as of now is 5.85MB, the smallest one 49KB), and they're virus-free, I promise. I made these in Windows, so I'm not sure how they'd work on a Mac.
Also, if you have a request, feel free to PM me or post below. All I'll need is a text file of all the names you'd like me to use, preferrably seperated so there's only one on a line.
I'm also not quite sure if this is the right board to put these in, since I'm not quite sure if they're art, but this seems most appropriate.
MORGAN'S FAVORITE NAME GENERATOR
This one was made purely for personal purposes, though I figured some people out there might have the same taste in names as I do. This is what it looks like:
As you can see, it gives you a first, middle, and last name. These all just come from a list that I compiled of names that I really like. Most of the first names are European, names of days or months, or just generally kind of weird or obscure names. A few names also come from my books, such as Sophia, Ruben, and Maisie.

THE EXTREME LAST NAME GENERATOR
This generator uses all the names that, according to the US 1990 census, had above 100 usages. Unfortunately, my last name is not one of them, but I'm sure a lot of yours are. Any last name you find on this website is in this generator, which is why it's the larger of all the name genderand why it froze my computer while I was coding. But don't worry, it should work just fine on your computer.
And yes, there's a little indentation before each name. I was going to remove it, but the code was so large that fixing it would have completely frozen my computer for the umpteenth time. I may fix it later, but otherwise, this works just fine. c:

THE DECADE NAME GENERATORS
In these generators, I use the top 250 first names from each decade and the top 1000 last names from the 1990 census, since I couldn't find any last name information from each decade. There's a seperate generator for each gender, since I didn't want to make these too large, and I didn't want the code to decimate my comptuer, haha.
